Nation Shocked by Logical Endpoint of Trump Presidency

Following the attack and attempted insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, in a day filled with violence and chaos, the nation is in a state of shock at what has long been the only logical endpoint to a Trump presidency that has been on a path to this moment since the day it began.

After years of violent rhetoric, governmental chaos, and a final year in office defined largely by the state of disarray the entire country had fallen into, many Americans spent today aghast at what had transpired in Washington, DC.

For many in the country, it's almost impossible to believe that in America, a president could assemble a mob to disrupt the democratic process over an election he had clearly lost, even after that president had spent months leading that mob to do exactly that.

"This has always been where this is heading," said democracy expert Dickey Bloads. "It's been obvious since he first took office, and only became more obvious as we neared the end.

"I can't believe it's come to this. I'm beside myself."
