WASHINGTON — During a hastily arranged press conference at the White House on Wednesday, Joe Biden announced that he hoped to one day meet the President of the United States.
Mr. Biden, who himself is currently serving as the President, spent much of the news conference recounting his early days working as a newsboy during the Great Depression and his tenure as mayor of his hometown, neither of which actually happened.
“That’s the great thing about America,” Biden said. “If you put in the hard work and do what’s best for your family and community, you can work your way up to a better life. And maybe, you can one day meet the President.”
The President then shared his aspirations to shake hands with the Commander-in-Chief, expressing that it would be the height of his career in public service.
"It would be the honor of a lifetime," Biden said of the act that he had done countless times even before becoming President himself.
Before leaving the press conference, Biden asked if anyone had seen his lucky penny. As of press time, no one had.
