MILWAUKEE — In a statement released Wednesday on Truth Social, his personal blog, golf course manager Donald Trump urged a reeling nation to finally come together after nearly a decade of permanent discord to “unite around the idea that my first term as President never happened.”
“Now is the time for America to come together!” said Trump. “We have to unite as a nation and forget the events of my first term. In fact, if we want to remain a country, it would be best if we all just forgot that my Presidency ever existed!”
Political analysts praised Trump’s new tone as a welcome departure from the divisive language he has used in the past.
“He has rarely, if ever, used his platform to bring people together,” said elections expert Dicky Bloads. “And it’s politically brilliant to do it in a way that encourages voters to willfully forget the state of disarray and general chaos that the country had fallen into by the time he left office.”
Mr. Trump’s call for unity through collective amnesia is not without its skeptics, including some who believe that it doesn’t go far enough.
“It’s not enough to forget about his presidency,” said Senator Tammy Baldwin. “The only way for the country to heal is for us to forget who Donald Trump is at all.”
